I have returned to my notes many times from John’s earliest days.
Small observations.
Fragments.
Moments that seemed unimportant.
John arrived, and nothing about his arrival suggested that he would become central to anything.
He sat where he was asked.
He did what was required.
He observed more than he spoke.
During those days, something began to form in him.
It shaped how he responded,
how he worked,
and how he carried what came to him.
But that is for another day.
First, I must tell you about the system.
The system into which John arrived.
The system that made John dependable.
The system that nourished me.
The system that was far from perfect.
The system I will reveal before you know more about John.
Meet John's Colleagues. They are here (& almost everywhere).
